National, regional SBA lending hits new high

Small business loans backed by the U.S. Small Business Administration hit a new high in the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, with over $30 billion in loans issued with SBA backing during the fiscal year. Some $308 million of those loans were in the metropolitan Portland region, including $42 million in Southwest Washington, the SBA reported. Those loan totals for the Portland-Vancouver area set a new record. SBA backed $211 million in Portland-Vancouver loans in fiscal year 2010 and $203 million in 2009, the agency said.
